Once again Co-ordin8 Art Students have taken part in the Summer Sculpture Trail held in Teignmouth throughout the month of August.
The event has been organised by TRAIL (Teignmouth Recycled Art in Landscape) with the message being to make people aware of the environment and how we can love and look after our planet by sensibly recycling and responsibly disposing of waste… ubiquitous and virtually indestructible plastics. Sam Lock and Amy McCarthy were the organisers.
Visit the website trailart.co.uk and after you have looked at all the entries this year you can vote for your favourite sculpture…
Hopefully Co-ordin8’s!
1. Firstly and on a serious note the ‘perils of pollution and why we should recycle’ were discussed and agreed on by the Co-ordin8 Art Groups. 2. Then inspiration from the healing value of nature was made.
Teignmouth Sculpture Trail map 3. The Group looked at the environment that the sculpture would be placed in ( See Map.) And then decided on what and how the sculpture should be designed to withstand naughty people ( strong fixings!), the weather, sea breezes and length of time that it would be on display eg. Day and night for a whole month! 4. Over coffee and as a group a lot of colourful ideas were considered. A plan was agreed on and drawn up together. Technical issues were considered with health and safety in mind.
5. Work began. Old items were seen in a new light! 6 Sue Cox makes lantern flowers out of old plastic bottles. 7. Brian makes flower petals out of old carrier bags. 8. Brian’s flower petals are put together. 9. Andrea Dillon goes for another colour. 10. Palm Tree stems are plaited. 11. Neil tries out the mail support structure!

4. Michael Attard helps Amy McCarthy to install the Co-ordin8 Sculpture on Teignmouth Sea Front. Clive secures the cable ties to fix the corners. Our information board if installed. Solar lights are put up and ready for nightfall to add another interest and environmentally friendly dimension.
