Friday Book Review…

February 9, 2022 By Co-ordin8 team Leave a Comment

The Friday Club Group decided that they would like to review some books. This was done by students choosing from a range of authors and subjects on offer. Students were also given the opportunity to read extracts of their own choice if they liked, or to take part in facets of the story as it developed. Books from down memory lane which later became adapted to cinema were also included by popular demand and video clips were viewed by the group after each of the reading sessions to consolidate the storyline and add to the experience. Finally, individual authors were discussed in terms of their history and background and why they may have written their books.

Story by Fiona and dictated to Jenny

April 23, 2020 By Jenny Aherne Leave a Comment

Once upon a time there was a lovely lady called Fiona who loved doing crafts, unless it was too hot. She loved colouring, eating macaroni, spaghetti Bolognese, lasagne and drinking tea, coffee and juice. But best of all she loved eating cake, especially chocolate cake, but not too much.

She loved going for walks in the fresh air and watching telly especially channel 46, all the oldies. She loves quizzes.

Her favourite pop act is West Life, she loves Gary Barlow, but when she was a teenager she loved David Cassidy and Cliff Richards, too.

To learn something and receive education is a privilege and not all the world have this luxury – to learn in an environment that caters to my specific needs is almost impossible to find, yet in Torbay a group of community tutors have moved some way to this ideal goal of all educators.
